December Ice (The Bats) b/w Widow Maker (Boomgates), a split 7″ vinyl release between Mistletone + Bedroom Suck Records, will be available this November to help celebrate the opening of Melbourne Music Week 2013.
Previously unreleased, December Ice was one of the tracks that didn’t make it on to The Bats’ most recent album Free All The Monsters. It was taken from the album recording sessions at Seacliffe Asylum – (a 19th century psychiatric hospital in the small village of Seacliff, located to the north of Dunedin) – and later mixed by Dale Cotton, the engineer behind High Dependency Unit, Dimmer and several Bats albums.
There’s no questioning the pedigree of Boomgates. With band members heralding from Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Twerps, Dick Diver, Trial Kennedy and Teen Archer, this is a band who perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Melbourne’s music scene – in all its laconic excellence.
