As of September 9, 2016, Melbourne slacker-pop quintet Scott & Charlene’s Wedding are set to release their third full-length record, the aptly titled Mid Thirties Single Scene.
Six years since the release of Craig Dermody’s original ode to moving furniture and cold Melbourne winters, S&CW have become an international institution, playing across the USA, Europe and Japan, while managing to secure themselves a spot at Glastonbury Festival, amongst others.
The band have since re-settled in Melbourne and recorded this, their new testament to life off the rails, rapidly careening toward middle age. The winters are still the same, the furniture just as heavy.
To celebrate the release of ‘Don’t Bother Me’, the first single from Mid Thirties Single Scene, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding are heading on a rollicking tour Up the Guts of Australia. Catch them in your town, or drive 300km’s to the middle of nowhere for the night of your life.

Join us for a Bedroom Suck road trip, celebrating some of the world’s most beautiful countryside right at our doorstep. Buses will leave from Melbourne’s home of rock, The Tote Hotel, at 1pm on Saturday, April 30 and return later that evening.

We’ll be joined on the trip by Totally Mild, Terrible Truths, Milk Teddy as well as the incredible Lehmann B. Smith and Great Outdoors performing a collaborative set. Support comes from Ballarat absolute legends LL Goons and Tropical Snakes. Join your fave bands on the bus, have a chat and share some of your road-trip classic hits.

Bedroom Suck Records began as the present tense of Joe Alexander and Sam McCabe, two down-and-out sharehouse types direct from the steamy sauna of Brisbane suburban living. One day the amount of good music snaking out from under the doors of friends and distant relatives became too much to bear, and in early 2009 what became known as ‘bedroom suck’ was born.
Since then, B-S-R have been honoured to dip their hands into hot vinyl to manufacture records for the likes of Boomgates, Blank Realm, Bitch Prefect, Terrible Truths + more. This year, we will celebrate our fifth birthday, with celebrations in some of our favourite venues across the country.
Our birthday celebration this year will also include the release of a double-LP vinyl compilation, brilliantly titled ’5 Years of Bedroom Suck Records’ and charting the label’s inception in Brisbane and growth throughout the past half-decade, including previously unreleased tracks from Love of Diagrams, Boomgates, Angel Eyes, Terrible Truths, Ela Stiles, Peter Escott + more.

Over the years, Ela Stiles has built a name for herself as an adept musician in Sydney’s often strange and varied music scene. Moving beyond her work in local favourites Songs, she became a driving force in Melbourne outfit Bushwalking, releasing two records with the band while still based in Sydney and working on numerous projects.
Now she has released her debut record, an enigma made up entirely of a-capella pieces, layered and squished together to form a beautiful whole. Join her to celebrate the release of this special record.
